Flint Mountain Trail Works is a division of Flint Mountain Works, LLC owned by Jordan Rowell and founded in 2024. A Vermonter now living in Western Maine, Jordan started his career in trails in 2014 with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps as a crew member. He immediately caught the bug and has been passionate about creating trails and the communities that sustain them ever since. Throughout his career he’s been involved at every stage of the trail life cycle. Some of his professional experience before starting Flint Mountain Works includes:

  • Trail planning, GIS/Mapping, stakeholder engagement, and project management with Vermont Huts Association and Velomont Trail Collective

  • Professional trail building and stone masonry with Hermit Woods Trail Builders, LLC

  • Leading technical skills trainings and workshops for the Darmouth Outing Club, New Hampshire Forest Society, and CRAG-VT

  • Leading crews with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps

  • Coordinating volunteer projects with the Green Mountain Club

  • Grant-writing, permitting, and project management for CRAG-VT

As more and more communities recognize the conservation, health and wellness, and economic value of trails, the need for professional assistance in getting projects off the ground is growing.

While Jordan still enjoys getting his hands dirty and participating in the physical aspect of trails, Flint Mountain Trail Works is focused on the planning, design, and management of trail projects.
